Love of My Life...

Hey Everybody! It's been ages since I updated but today is the day! First off, I am going wedding dress shopping today! I've saved up most of my money from working this summer and we are going to head up to Davids Bridal (hooya for the $99 sale) and buy me a wedding dress. I am excited :) I am willing to spend up to $700 for the perfect dress, but would rather pay $300-$500. That may seem like a lot to pay to some people for a dress I'm only going to wear for a couple of hours, but I've been dreaming about this my whole life. And there are really only two things I care about in this wedding when it comes right down to it- that Kyle is the groom and I'm wearing a princess dress. So princess dress it is. :)

And the other more important reason for this post is the ONE campaign. I think this thing could really make a difference and I want to try to help. Evidently there is this amendment that they want everyone to call their senators and support- the Santorum-Durbin Amendment for global AIDS funding. The Amendment will give total US funding to programs that prevent HIV, AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria and treat the people who have these deseases. So they set up a toll free line that connects you to your senator's office where you can tell them you support the amendment. Hopefully, with enough phone calls, your representative will support it too. So I'm gonna pass along the number and the web site in case you want to call too:

1-800-786-2ONE, or 1-800-786-2663.

or to see how you should talk to the senators office:

Alright everyone! I finished my toast and my yummy milk so I'm gonna go jump in the shower and get ready to go wedding dress shopping. I feel like I need to go in there dressed like an adult (ugh) so I may ditch my t-shirt and jeans look today and put on a skirt and cute little red top. Rawr. :)

A woman I know spent $2400 on her dress. That is crazy expensive! She had to make monthly payments in order to afford it. I think your range is much more reasonable.

ahh! $2400! You could buy a small country for that much!

Yeah, I really can't imagine blowing THAT much money on a dress. I mean, it was nice, but "nice" isn't worth more than $2000. The one I've got my heart set on is going to cost less than half that, and it'd be handmade and tailored just for me. *Shrugs* I think that's a better way to go.

So, did you have any luck?

Yeah I dont remember what my dress cost.. But I remember that my wedding day was just a blur. It goes soo fast and you are so hopped up on like adrenalin (i believe that how to spell it) buzz. Yeah I remember going to the hotel more then being at my wedding..

Dresses and Budgets

My mom and Dad are giving us $1500 for the wedding, and so 300-500 seems impressive indeed. Mom and I are making my dress out of 20 dollars of new material/beads and the dress that she and my Aunt Jill both wore for their weddings. Sentimental and cheap, plus I get to have it tailored to my body (something that rarely happens, lol!). I'm really excited that you will have the two most important things at your wedding! Does the dress outweigh the groom?! j/k! Hope you found your princess dress! :-D

Re: Dresses and Budgets

Your dress sounds like so much fun! None of my family members saved their dresses so I had to buy one. I found a really pretty one, I'm so excited! I'm debating whether I should save the dress after the wedding for my future kids or make pillows or something with the fabric :)
